So I just got back from a trip across Ohio (mostly flat).. I stopped at a rest stop and checked the fluid level on the Allison shifter and it was 2 quarts low. Fluid is kind of a goldfish color like motor oil with a hint of red. Didn’t smell real burnt. I put 2 quarts in and checked it again and it said it was ok
Continued on the trip and the trans temp parked at like 221 for most of the trip. Got up to as high as 227 on mostly flat roads
No “trans temp” or “trans stop” lights ever lit up but these temps seem to be higher than everything I’m reading. I am towing a 5k pound vehicle but whopdie do.
Last year I ran it with the fan unplugged and it never got above 205 on the BlueFire.
I did open the hatch and took some readings with the IR gun from what I think is the trans cooler (pictures attached)
I’m going to change the fluid and filters. Can anyone tell me the filters numbers and transyd quantity?? I guess I’ll start there unless someone has a better idea
