Lost power - johnkosir - 02-18-2026

2004 60 Series, 14 Liter, EGR delete, no waste gate, noticed transmission shifting different, full throttle to do 60 miles a hour, only getting 3 psi boost, made it to where I was going, fuel filter was ok, all hoses on and could not find any leaks, pulled hose off turbo, intake vanes looked ok, turbo spun smoothly, no vibrations, no play up or down or in and out, ends up the block off plate for the EGR had lost a nut and the other one was loose.

Replaced nut and double nutted jammed nuts together so hopefully will not happen again
Motor does not make boost in neutral, had to brake torque it in gear to check for boost
Drove back to Tampa after the 500 and every thing was back to normal

Any type of exhaust leak prior the turbo will drop boost. Good catch!

Great sequence of checks that any owner can do when power is down on these engines.

Glad you found it, and glad it was an easy fix.

I know a nylock nut would be worthless with the heat, but there are also nuts that are crimped at the top to prevent them from backing off. They are all metal. A jam nut should be a permanent fix.

Nice find, better than having a CAC leaking.
