I find it so interesting how…. on my coach… data information is always…. Let’s just say… interfered with in some way, shape or form… just saying…
If you’ve never removed the leather dash trim, here’s what’s underneath it.
More pics:
How did that get in there???
Oh yes… a friendly reminder.
When you’re focused on a project that takes you deep into the darkness of the bus systems, especially electrical…. stop and carefully inspect the items around you. Use a bright flashlight like you’re on a crime scene like CSI…. Look for anything unusual.
I found this last night in this…. excuse my French, this mess…
Just a few items I call… tips for success.

SCS was acquired by
Victory Climate Systems. The best source I found for SCS parts was
Comfort Air in Grand Rapids, MI. The attached SCS wiring diagram may or may not be useful. Have fun!

Chew on these pics for a while….
This had to happen while I was in the bus. Can’t tell you when but….
The plastic connector is melted away! Gone!!
The connectors are melted together!!!
Well… I’m pissed off.
Warning to all early 2k Newell owners.
Get under the dash and take a look at the wiring for the dash air fan motors. ASAP!!!
I’ll continue to “investigate” but summer is here and this is not a good situation to have in our busses.
I’ll post info as I gather it.
Pissed off out…

Heat happens when a connection fails for whatever reason. It can be corrosion, loss of tension of the connector or a variety of other reasons. It's one of the reasons simply reseating a connector cures so many problems. Any discoloration on a connector is a warning of heat and a poor electrical connection. It's also why I try to use name brand parts instead of chineesium.
It's good you found it, hopefully that cures your problem.

Please chime in if you disagree with my initial assessment:
First pass:
Connector problem.
Corrosion with spade connection and wire.
Resolution:
Verify motor amperage requirements
Verify Proper wire size
Utilize WAGO fasteners for connections.
Secure wires and connectors to minimize movement during travel.
Incorporate motor fuse into system, in an accessible location.
Utilize dielectric grease on all connection associated with the dash air system where possible.

Nice work and I will be going up under my dash to take a look at mine as well. I am glad you are checking the motor amperage, its a good idea since these are most likely brushed motors. Probably would not hurt to go ahead and pull the motors to inspect the brushes and to clean up the commutator while you have it apart. A little oil on the bearings as well will help things out and keep the amperages down.
