Individual states vary as to how they treat Salvage Titles. In Illinois, it must be rebuilt, ie the damage repaired, and pass two inspections before a clean title can be obtained. They can be damaged as little as 1/3 of the market value without the damage. In Texas, you can resell a Salvage Titled vehicle and the damage must be 75% of the previous value. In Florida, Salvage Titles are either Rebuildable or Unrebuildable. If Unrebuildable, they will not be retitled and must be sold as parts, shipped out of the United States, or scrapped.
